Mindful Mornings with My Go-To Iced Matcha Latte
Mornings set the tone for the day — and mine always start slow, intentional, and a little green. My go-to drink lately has been an iced matcha latte, a ritual that feels equal parts refreshing and grounding. It’s that perfect balance between calm energy and quiet focus — something coffee never quite gives me.
There’s something deeply soothing about whisking matcha in the morning light, pouring it over ice, and watching the creamy swirl as milk blends in. It’s simple, beautiful, and honestly, a moment of peace before the day begins.
Why Matcha?
Matcha is more than just a trendy drink — it’s a mindful choice. Made from finely ground green tea leaves, it’s rich in L-theanine, an amino acid known to promote calm alertness, and antioxidants that support healthy skin and overall wellness. Unlike coffee, matcha gives a smoother energy boost — no jitters, just focus and flow.
You’ll Need:
1 teaspoon high-quality matcha powder (I love using Jade Leaf Matcha)
2 ounces hot water (not boiling — about 175°F)
½ cup milk of choice (I use whole milk)
1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
Dash of cinnamon (optional)
Ice
The Ritual:
Whisk the matcha: In a small bowl, add matcha powder and hot water. Whisk in a zig-zag motion until frothy and smooth.
Assemble: Fill the glass with ice. Then pour the sweetener over the ice, pour in your milk, then gently top with your matcha mixture. Sprinkle on the cinnamon.
Sip & breathe: Stir lightly, take a deep breath, and enjoy that earthy, energizing calm.
My Tip:
I like to make this ritual part of my self-care — soft music, morning light, maybe a quick journal reflection while sipping. It’s a daily reminder that wellness doesn’t have to be complicated — it can be as simple as a good drink made with intention.
